EFTA/NFTO
Chamber of National
Family Therapy Organisations

Welcome

Welcome to the NFTO section of the EFTA Webpage!

As the new chair person of EFTA-NFTO, I want to welcome you to the NFTO section of the EFTA website. I also want to warmly thank Eric Louis, the former chair, whose contribution to the NFTO development in the last years has been substantial. I am very happy that he continues his work in the board as a vice chair and treasurer.

Being the chamber for national family therapy associations in Europe our aim is to bring together the existing national associations and also to support the evolvement of new associations. To mention some of our goals, the NFTO chamber focuses on promoting family therapy, supporting family therapy research and creating networks between different associations throughout Europe. We support the president of EFTA, Arlene Vetere, in her work as an ambassador of EFTA. We collaborate with the other two chambers, the individual members (CIM) and the training institutes (TIC).

In Glasgow congress in October 2007, the new board for the NFTO chamber was elected. We had the first board meeting in January 2008 in Lille, where we assigned the roles and responsibilities. The board has both members with long experience in EFTA work and also newcomers, which I find promising in terms of fruitful collaboration. We represent different countries, diverse cultures and contexts, various professions and ages, like our chamber does itself with 26 associations. I hope that as a board we will be able to continue to have lively connections with all of our members, to support them in their work and to be supported by them. We very much welcome you to contact us, give us feedback, questions and suggestions. Our chamber has a meeting once a year and in these meetings we hope to coordinate our work together and to get inspiration from each other.

In our website you will find a lot of information about our activities and about our members, the national family therapy associations. It is there to help you to get in contact with each other and to help you to form networks around important topics. Please use this information freely.

We look forward to being in contact with you!
